North Rhine-Westphalia: Public prosecutor's office investigates attempted homicide

Warstein (dpa / lnw) - After an argument in Warstein on Friday afternoon, the public prosecutor's office began to investigate an attempted homicide against a 40-year-old. A police spokesman said on Saturday. The suspect is said to have hit another man on the head with a shovel during an altercation. The 36-year-old had to be taken to a hospital after the attack in the hallway of a dormitory. Police say he is still in a life-threatening condition.

The police arrested the 40-year-old. He has since been placed in a closed psychiatric facility. Nothing was initially known about the background to the argument. In another apartment in the home, the police found an unconscious woman. In the course of the operation, however, it was possible to rule out that she was the victim of an act of violence. It was still unclear on Saturday whether there was a connection with the argument between the men.
