Ratingen-Tiefenbroich (dpa / lnw) - Because of a 120-meter-long pool of water on the Autobahn 52 near the Tiefenbroich junction (Mettmann district), five cars collided. Due to the heavy rain, the large puddle formed on the road in the direction of Essen, said a police spokesman on Sunday evening. The driver of a car braked sharply when he noticed the puddle of water. The following car could not brake in time and drove up at high speed.
Three other drivers were also unable to stop their cars in time and collided. The five vehicles spread over the three lanes because of the great force of the collisions. Two of the twelve occupants were slightly injured, one was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The fire brigade drained the water on the road through several gullies.
