Because the ring of a patient could not be stripped off, the emergency room at St. Marien Hospital in Ratingen called the district control center and asked for help, as the fire brigade announced on Sunday. A "small emergency vehicle" made its way. With a little improvisation and a precision saw, the ring was severed, it said. A piece of metal tape measure was previously used as a protective splint between the finger and the ring. The Ratingen fire brigade had already rushed to help in a similar case in the hospital in February, it was said.
