Bochum (dpa / lnw) - With numerous campaigns and offers, the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) is dedicated to the topic of educational injustice on Diversity Day on May 31st. Next Tuesday, several institutions and initiatives in the Musisches Zentrum of the RUB will provide information to visitors and will be available to answer questions. In addition, lectures, exhibitions and performances complement the diverse program, as the university announced.

"In addition to information tables and a poster exhibition on the subject, we were able to win the renowned sociologist Prof. Dr. Aladin El-Mafalaani from the University of Osnabrück for a lecture," said Alexandra Wassermann, advisor to the university pro-rector for diversity, inclusion and talent development . In addition, "The Island of Tulipatan" based on an operetta by Jacques Offenbach will be staged and musically directed by Nikolaus Müller.

Among the exhibitors is the Inclusive University. According to the RUB, an estimated eleven percent of Bochum students have a study-related health restriction. In order to give everyone the same chances of successfully completing their studies, the institution coordinates various support services such as the barrier-free design of new teaching materials and courses. At the stand of the inclusive university, those interested can try out various aids that people with disabilities depend on during their studies.

The "Our Campus" project also shows that educational injustice has many facets. This initiative focuses on the victims of sexism and sexualised violence. Sexist experiences often make studying difficult and are stressful for those affected. Those affected want to report on their experiences at the "Our Campus" stand.

The entire program on May 31 starts at 10.30 a.m. with a welcome from the university rector Martin Paul and vice rector Isolde Karle and ends in the afternoon with the performance of "Tulipatan Island".
