North Rhine-Westphalia: Ruhrpott Carnival "Geierabend" is back

Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the satirical Ruhrpott carnival "Geierabend" started the session again in front of an audience. On Thursday evening, the alternative carnivalists played the first of around 30 planned performances under the motto "Den ham wa us deserves" at Zeche Zollern.

Ensemble member Sandra Schmitz had previously announced that the program would be a colorful mixture of well-loved and completely new characters. Current topics were satirised: spending on the military, BVB or the "twin town of Recklinghausen". The "first barbecue musical in Germany" was also planned.

Until Shrove Monday it is also possible to vote online who should be given the anti-Order "Pannekopp" in 2023. The musician brothers Tom and Bill Kaulitz and the Green politician Claudia Roth were chosen as candidates. In the past two years, the "Geierabend" had failed, in 2021 there had been at least short online clips as an alternative.
