Rheine (dpa / lnw) - A 67-year-old man was run over by his own car in a parking lot in Rheine and injured. The man left his car while, according to initial findings, the engine was still running and the handbrake was not applied, the police said on Tuesday. Then, on Monday evening, the car started to move on the sloping terrain, with the 67-year-old falling under the car and being run over.

Several helpers called the rescue service, the injured man was rescued and taken to the hospital in a rescue helicopter. According to the police, he was able to leave the clinic on Tuesday. The police are now investigating exactly how the accident happened.
