Mülheim/Ruhr (dpa/lnw) - Kai Schäfer and Yvonne Li have each defended their individual titles at the German badminton championships. The 29-year-old Schäfer from the Hessian Bundesliga club Fun-Ball Dortelweil won the final against Matthias Kicklitz (Blau-Weiss Wittorf) in Mülheim an der Ruhr on Sunday with 21:16, 18:21, 21:13. Yvonne Li (24) won her fourth title for women. Schäfer's clubmate defeated Ann-Kathrin Spöri from TV Refrath 21:19, 21:11.
Double and mixed European champion Mark Lamsfuss (BC Wipperfeld) did not compete because he was preparing for the World Cup. In mixed, Bjarne Geiss and Emma Moszczymski won the title with a 23:21, 21:9 against Jan-Colin Völker and Stine Küspert.
