North Rhine-Westphalia: Snowfall possible on Monday: danger of black ice in the mountains

Essen (dpa / lnw) - The week in North Rhine-Westphalia could start with snowfall down to lower altitudes. At temperatures of two to minus one degree, rain moving in from the south turns into snow or sleet in the lowlands, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). The DWD warns of a significant risk of ice, especially in the mountains. At higher altitudes, temperatures can drop to minus three degrees.

According to the forecast, Monday will be overcast with widespread rain or sleet in the metropolitan areas, and snow in the mountains. In the night to Tuesday there will be widespread rain or drizzle in the lowlands and initially snowfall in the mountains. The temperatures then rise to two to six degrees during the day. According to the DWD, it is then very cloudy and often foggy. Overcast, cold and damp weather with rain and snowfall at higher elevations will continue on Wednesday.
