Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the state administration's fleet of around 2,500 cars, not even every tenth car has an electric drive. The state government has set itself the goal of converting the vehicle fleet to climate-friendly drives by 2030. According to the Ministry of Finance, almost nine percent of the 2,500 vehicles are currently e-cars (100) or hybrids (122).
This does not include police patrol cars. They should not become electric: The charging cycles would severely impair the operational capability, the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday at the request of AfD deputies. The current vehicle concept of the police is "without alternative".
There are now 401 charging points for electric vehicles on land owned by the state. The proportion of e-cars in the state fleet is expected to increase to 20 percent this year and to 28 percent next year. Delivery is currently delayed due to delivery difficulties.
