North Rhine-Westphalia: State-wide traffic controls halfway through the summer holidays

Ratingen (dpa / lnw) - Halfway through the North Rhine-Westphalian summer vacation, the police controlled travel across the country. One focus was on packed family cars. "Flying objects can lead to serious injuries. Safety begins with packing," warned NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) on Saturday.

The weekends in the middle of the summer holidays are always particularly busy on the streets. Many travelers return, others set off to their holiday destination by car.

"Be considerate, obey the rules and focus on the traffic while driving and not on your cell phone," Reul appealed when visiting a control operation on the A3 near Ratingen. "Think above all of your family, who are in the car and for whom you are responsible."
