North Rhine-Westphalia: Still problems in rail traffic in NRW

Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The tense personnel situation at the railways continues to cause canceled trains and restrictions for travelers in North Rhine-Westphalia on Tuesday. The lines RE 16 and RB 91 between Iserlohn and Letmathe are affected. A rail replacement service with buses will be set up there by Tuesday afternoon, as the railway announced. Replacement buses also operate on the RB 61 between Osnabrück and Rheine.

RB 32 trains between Duisburg and Dortmund will also be canceled until August 7th. Here, too, according to DB NRW, the high level of sick leave is one reason for the failures. Instead, buses are used, and the train refers to the parallel trains of RE 3, RB 35 and S 2. The RE 49 between Wuppertal and Wesel is also canceled until August 7th. The RB 36 between Oberhausen and Duisburg-Ruhrort will be canceled until July 31st.

North Rhine-Westphalia's Transport Minister Oliver Krischer (Greens) had already called for improvements in the transport associations on Monday. In the event of problems such as are currently occurring, the impact on passengers must be kept as low as possible. Early and up-to-date information about cancellations and replacement traffic is essential. The reason was that trains on S-Bahn lines 8, 11, 12 and 19 had been discontinued in the Rhineland last weekend. Krischer also made the federal government responsible and called for better financing of the rail network.
