Cologne (dpa / lnw) - Plainclothes officers from the Cologne police have caught a suspected serial arsonist red-handed. The 20-year-old is said to have set at least eight parked cars on fire in the Wahn and Wahnheide districts on different nights, the police and the public prosecutor announced on Wednesday.
Late on Tuesday evening, the officers saw the suspect come out of a courtyard where a car was on fire. The police arrested the man. They found accelerant and a lighter on him. The motive for the crimes was initially unclear.
