Mülheim (dpa / lnw) - A suspicious smell led the police in Mülheim an der Ruhr to a professionally operated drug plantation. They found more than 500 cannabis plants there. The officials had noticed a typical smell of cannabis in the hall before Christmas. They obtained a search warrant and actually found 540 illegally grown plants when they searched the hall.

An irrigation system, a ventilation system and countless lamps would have ensured that the drug plantation could develop well. The 25-year-old alleged operator was arrested during the operation, the police said on Wednesday. The man was taken into custody.
