North Rhine-Westphalia: "The last of their kind": exhibition shows changing professions

Bonn (dpa/lnw) - Clothing is mostly made in the Far East, in shops customers can scan the goods they have bought themselves: An exhibition in Bonn's Bundeskunsthalle is dedicated to dying professions. Under the title "The last of their kind", the show from Saturday will take a look at five professions that have changed significantly - or that no longer exist: tailors, cashiers, bakers, miners and typesetters.

The effects of the transformation in working life become clear on the basis of everyday objects and accompanying scientific texts. "We're opening big barrels with it, but we also leave room for small stories and individual memories," said curator Henriette Pleiger on Thursday. The exhibition can be seen until April 2, 2023.
