North Rhine-Westphalia: The number of accident victims with e-scooters has almost tripled

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The number of accident victims with e-scooters almost tripled in North Rhine-Westphalia last year. It rose from 506 casualties nationwide in 2020 to 1449 drivers or passengers in 2021, as the State Statistical Office IT.NRW announced on Tuesday. The majority of those injured (82 percent) suffered only minor injuries. 257 e-scooter drivers or passengers were seriously injured. There were no deaths. According to the statistics, more than four fifths of those affected were under 45 years old.
