North Rhine-Westphalia: The pot is not empty yet: the promotion of home ownership continues

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Anyone who builds or buys an apartment in North Rhine-Westphalia and lives in their own property can continue to receive a subsidy of up to 10,000 euros from the state. The funding period for the home ownership subsidy program has been extended beyond the turn of the year, the NRW Ministry of Finance announced on Friday. The 400 million euros made available from the beginning of 2022 are therefore far from being exhausted.

The subsidy is intended to support young families in particular when buying a property. The program was launched on January 1, 2022 with an original term of one year. So far, the NRW.BANK has approved around 71 million euros, the ministry said. Around 30,000 applications with a volume of 190 million euros have been received.

The subsidy amounts to two percent of the purchase price subject to real estate transfer tax, but a maximum of 10,000 euros. The subsidy can be applied for by anyone who has bought owner-occupied residential property or building land for the development of an owner-occupied residential property from 2022 onwards.
