Cologne (dpa / lnw) - After the finale of the WDR fundraising campaign "The West helps. Together against hunger in the world", people once again donated more than one million euros. Overall, a little more than 10.6 million euros have been raised for aid projects in crisis countries, as WDR announced on Thursday.
The WDR, together with "Aktion Deutschland Hilft", called for donations during the Advent season. A large part of the donations was collected through a campaign that was broadcast live around the clock from December 18th to 22nd from a glass studio in Dortmund. The donation account remained open beyond that.
The money will be earmarked for specific aid projects. On Thursday it was said that thanks to the success, the 50 selected aid projects from "Aktion Deutschland Hilft" could be implemented.
