North Rhine-Westphalia: thief on crutches too slow: 48-year-old caught

Essen (dpa / lnw) - Because he could not escape from the scene of the crime quickly enough with crutches, a 48-year-old suspected thief was caught in a discount store. As reported by the Essen police, he and an accomplice tried to break into the lounge of a discount store through a tilted window on Wednesday. An employee (31) in the next room heard suspicious noises, checked and saw the burglar.

As the men moved away from the window, the 31-year-old walked through the branch towards the exit, where she met the duo. While one suspect was able to flee, the second was left behind. Because of an injury and crutches, he wasn't able to run away fast enough. Together with another witness, the employee was able to hold the man until the police arrived.

The 48-year-old, who has already appeared several times for property crimes, should receive his verdict this Thursday in an accelerated procedure.
