North Rhine-Westphalia: tires on cars stabbed: perpetrators leave flyers

Essen (dpa / lnw) - In the Bredeney district of Essen, tires were punctured on several cars on Wednesday night. The unknown group had chosen SUVs and left flyers on the mostly expensive vehicles, the police said on Wednesday. Similar incidents had already occurred in Essen-Heidhausen in September. At that time, too, unknown people had damaged tires on SUVs or simply let the air out. Flyers had also been secured at the time, it said. The police did not provide any information about the content of the leaflets.

It was only last weekend that alleged climate activists in Wuppertal let the air out of the tires of at least 31 cars - mostly SUVs. There, too, there was a kind of letter of confession, as a police spokesman had explained.

The police are investigating property damage and dangerous intervention in road traffic. Since politically motivated acts cannot be ruled out, state security took over the investigation. The police are looking for witnesses who can give information about the perpetrators. In addition, other victims were asked to report to the authorities.
