North Rhine-Westphalia: trial for botch in hair transplants

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - At the Düsseldorf district court, a trial about dangerous bungling with hair transplants begins this Monday (10 a.m.). Two women are accused. The 29- and 36-year-old sisters are accused of dangerous bodily harm and fraud.

According to the indictment, they had transplanted hair in a Düsseldorf backyard clinic without medical training and without a license. This is said to have had significant consequences for three men in early April.

The 27- to 33-year-old men from Braunschweig and Bremen suffered from pain and bleeding because hair and sections of skin are said to have been transplanted without anesthesia.

A patient had become unconscious several times, had to vomit and was finally taken to a clinic by ambulance.

The men are said not to have been informed about the risks of the procedure, which costs around 2,000 euros. A representative of the clinic is said to have assured before the procedure that the operation would be carried out by medical professionals.
