North Rhine-Westphalia: trial of life-threatening attack with a glass bottle

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Because he is said to have almost killed a passenger with a broken glass bottle in a tram, a 27-year-old has to answer in court this Thursday (10:00 a.m.) in Düsseldorf. The accused is charged with attempted manslaughter.

His 23-year-old opponent had just survived the crime last July. "I'll kill you!" the defendant is said to have called several times. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries to his chest, back and head. It was initially unclear why the two men clashed.

Investigators tracked down the man from surveillance cameras. The crime had happened on a train on the way from Düsseldorf to Meerbusch. The process is scheduled to last four days until December 9, 2022.
