North Rhine-Westphalia: Truck with 20 tons of meat burns out: A1 blocked

Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - The A1 motorway between Schwerte and Westhofener Kreuz was closed on Wednesday morning in the direction of Cologne because of a burned-out truck. The closure should last until at least 11 a.m. because the truck loaded with around 20 tons of meat had to be recovered and the roadway had to be examined for damage, the police said. Vehicles in the Westhofener Kreuz were guided over the parallel lane. In the morning, traffic was backed up for several kilometers. It was initially unclear why the truck caught fire. The driver was not injured.
