Beverungen (dpa / lnw) - After a fire at a school in Beverungen in the Höxter district, the police identified two 13-year-olds as suspected arsonists. The officials reported on Thursday that they were outside the school cafeteria at the time in question and were handling fire there. "Incriminating video recordings" were found during a search.

The fire broke out on July 17. According to investigators, a table near the building was set on fire. From there, the flames would have spread to the facade of the high school. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly. Nevertheless, damage to property was estimated at 100,000 euros.

Criminal proceedings have now been initiated against the two 13-year-olds. "Since both are still under criminal responsibility due to their age, they do not have to face criminal consequences," the police said. There will probably be civil claims.
