North Rhine-Westphalia: Two injured in an accident while fleeing the police

Mülheim an der Ruhr (dpa / lnw) - While fleeing a police check, a driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs collided with another car in Mülheim an der Ruhr. The 42-year-old driver of the second car and her four-year-old son were injured in the collision on Wednesday evening and taken to the hospital, police said on Thursday. The 39-year-old who caused the accident was not injured.

As the police announced, the 39-year-old had previously been conspicuous for suspected drug use. When a patrol wanted to stop the driver for a check, he accelerated and fled the wrong way down a one-way street. From there, the wrong-way driver drove to an intersection, where he hit the 42-year-old's car. The man's car and driver's license were secured, and he also had to give a blood sample.
