North Rhine-Westphalia: Two stolen cars stopped: connection still unclear

Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) - Police officers from the Netherlands and Germany stopped two stolen cars on the Lower Rhine on their way to Germany. A patrol car was rammed, one of the cars caught fire on the run and had to be extinguished, the police said on Monday. One of the cars was stolen in Mönchengladbach on June 22nd and the other in Jüchen on June 25th. Some of the vehicle occupants, aged between 16 and 22, were seriously injured in the incidents late on Sunday evening and were taken to hospitals. Whether there is a connection between the men is currently still part of the investigation, said a police spokeswoman for the German Press Agency.

The police are now investigating the men and young people from Mönchengladbach and Jülich for driving without a license, particularly serious theft and endangering road traffic. So far, the police who have been arrested have not made an appearance.
