Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Record in the Düsseldorf state parliament: The plenary session on Wednesday lasted until early Thursday morning at 1.47 a.m. It was the longest plenary session in the history of the state parliament, as a spokesman said when asked by the dpa.
State President André Kuper said goodbye to the MPs with the words: "This brings us to the end of today's session at 1.47 a.m. after more than 15 hours. This is historically significant because it was the longest session in the history of the state parliament. I wish everyone a remaining one Good night."
For MEPs, however, things will continue this Thursday at 10:00 a.m. - with the next plenary session. Before that, the politicians are invited to the Advent service in the citizens' hall of the state parliament.
The longest plenary session in the history of the state parliament was also this year: on April 7, it lasted until 1:10 a.m. the next day. Before that, the longest session was on February 27, 2013. It ended on February 28 at 2 minutes past midnight. Here - as on Wednesday - the second reading of the budget was on the agenda.
According to the spokesman, the shortest session in the history of the state parliament began on October 23, 2012 at 1:34 p.m. and ended after around three and a half minutes. There was only one item on the agenda: "Fifth law amending the statutory time limits in the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior and Municipal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice".
