Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Aquaculture companies in North Rhine-Westphalia can apply for unbureaucratic help for additional costs caused by the crisis. This was announced by NRW Agriculture Minister Silke Gorißen (CDU) on Thursday in Düsseldorf. "The aquaculture farms in North Rhine-Westphalia are suffering from the sometimes extreme price increases for feed, energy and oxygen in the wake of the Ukraine war," she justified the measure. Additional costs caused by the crisis that have arisen since the outbreak of war on February 24th until the end of 2022 will be offset.
The maximum aid is therefore limited to 75,000 euros per application. The crisis aid is made up of funds from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and state funds. Application documents can be downloaded from the NRW Chamber of Agriculture website. "A strong and vital regional production of food in North Rhine-Westphalia is important," said Gorissen.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, there are up to 3,000 aquaculture farms in NRW that produce fish and crustaceans and often market them regionally. In addition, NRW is one of the largest trout producers in Germany alongside Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Lower Saxony.
