Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) - A fire in a warehouse in Gelsenkirchen damaged large parts of the building on Friday afternoon. As the fire brigade announced, when the emergency services arrived, flames were already coming out of the rear part of the approximately 46 by 23 meter commercial hall in the Resse district. The fire also destroyed several solar panels on the roof of the building, which is in close proximity to a vehicle dealership.
In the course of the operation, parts of the roof fell into the building, which made it considerably more difficult for the fire brigade to extinguish the fire. Furthermore, adjacent halls and buildings were minimally affected due to the heat development. According to the latest information, there were no injuries, according to the police. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage was not yet known. According to the police spokesman, some firefighters were still on site early on Saturday morning to prevent the fire from flaring up again.
