North Rhine-Westphalia: Warning strikes are also threatening soon in the NRW metal industry

Essen (dpa / lnw) - In the North Rhine-Westphalian metal industry, there could soon be the first warning strikes in view of the hitherto unsuccessful collective bargaining. The North Rhine-Westphalian IG Metall district leader Knut Giesler told the "Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" with a view to the offer made by employers in the southwest on Thursday: "If such an offer comes in NRW tomorrow, it will be a call for massive warning strikes. " The peace obligation in Germany's largest industrial sector with 3.8 million employees ends on Saturday night.

Employers in the southwest offered a one-time payment of 3,000 euros and an unspecified increase in salary scales. They announced that they would submit the proposal to all regional collective bargaining talks. IG Metall is demanding eight percent more money. Around 700,000 people are employed in the sector in NRW.
