North Rhine-Westphalia: Winterberg wants to start the winter sports season with two lifts

Winterberg (dpa / lnw) - The ski lift carousel in Winterberg wants to start the season with a mini lift operation on Friday. At least two slopes are so well prepared with the help of snow cannons that the season can start, the ski area announced on Wednesday. The toboggan lift at the Ruhrquelle is also scheduled to run for the first time on Saturday. "It's not a real start to the season yet, but it's a small, first offer for those who can hardly wait to finally get back on skis or snowboards," said the managing director of the ski lift carousel, Christoph Klante.

As many of the 26 lifts as possible should then be running by the time of the important Christmas business. "Some weather models indicate a cold snap for the coming week. If that happens, more slopes could be added on the third weekend in Advent," said Klante.

The ski lift carousel in Winterberg includes 34 snow-covered descents with 27.5 kilometers of slopes. This makes it the largest ski area in the Sauerland.
