North Rhine-Westphalia: woman seriously injured by shots in the parking lot: arrest

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - In the parking lot of a tennis facility in Cologne, a 39-year-old was seriously injured by shots. A 54-year-old is said to have shot her several times with a pistol on Sunday afternoon, according to the Cologne public prosecutor and police in the evening. The suspect was arrested after the shots were fired in the Kendenich district of Hürth. The background to the attack is still unclear.

A driver saw the crime and called 911. Because she was able to provide the license plate number of the fugitive gunman, civil servants intercepted the 54-year-old at his home address when he came home, it was said. An alcohol test showed a value of almost two per thousand.

Detectives from the Rhein-Erft district police have secured the first tracks and interviewed witnesses, and the Cologne police have meanwhile set up a murder commission. Witnesses are still being sought.
