North Rhine-Westphalia: Women earn six percent less

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Even if women are similarly qualified, they are paid on average six percent less than men in comparable jobs in North Rhine-Westphalia. This was announced by the State Statistical Office on Monday on the international day of action for equal pay between men and women (Equal Pay Day) on March 7th.

This is about the so-called "adjusted gender pay gap," said a spokeswoman. "Adjusted" means that, for example, the factor that women work part-time more often has already been factored out. It is only about comparable jobs with the same level of training and similar employment history. Here, for example, there are still jobs in trade or industry where a woman earns less than a man.
