Bad Honnef (dpa / lnw) - The World War II bomb found in Bad Honnef was successfully defused early Saturday morning. The defusing took place around 3 a.m., as a spokesman for the Bad Honnef volunteer fire department said. The evacuation has been lifted and all residents can return home.
The five hundredweight dud was found on Friday evening. According to the fire brigade spokesman, around 50 emergency services were busy evacuating an area of 300 meters around the site on Talstraße in the Aegidienberg district. Around 280 households were affected.
