Wuppertal (dpa / lnw) - Wuppertal wants to host the Federal Horticultural Show in 2031. The official application was handed over to a delegation from the Federal Horticultural Show Society on Wednesday evening, as a city spokeswoman confirmed. The delegation had previously visited Wuppertal and had the concept explained to them.
In the event of a bid, the Green Zoo Wuppertal would be the first zoological garden to be part of a federal garden show. Jochen Sandner, Managing Director of the German Federal Horticultural Show Society, explained that an intensive process that has been ongoing since 2017 is now reaching the home straight.
The concept offers a great opportunity for Wuppertal. "But we also see that there is a very lively discussion going on in public. We take that seriously and we want to remain in dialogue with those who are critical of a federal garden show."
