Not a bad time at all!: Ashton Kutcher runs the New York marathon

A few months ago, Ashton Kutcher announced that he was suffering from a rare autoimmune disease. But now he wants to prove to himself that he is fully capable again. The actor runs the marathon in New York for this and for a good cause.

42 kilometers through the Big Apple: Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher has successfully completed the marathon in New York. In a black T-shirt, shorts and bright pink running shoes, he finished the run in 3:54.01 hours.

Along the way, with the help of friends and fans, he raised over $1 million for his charity Thorn, which fights child sexual exploitation. With the development of innovative technologies, children should be protected from abuse on the Internet.

Getting in shape wasn't easy for him, the actor revealed on the "Today Show". He lost twelve pounds (5.44 kilograms) during the preparation. He started training six months ago. "It was brutal on my body. I injured myself halfway through the preparation and I'm only fully fit again now." One thing in particular was particularly painful: "I almost rubbed my nipples while running."

Kutcher revealed in August that he had been diagnosed with a rare disease two years ago. The star of sitcoms like That '70 Show and Two and a Half Men suffered from "a super rare form of vasculitis," as he revealed in the survival series Bear Grylls: Stars at the Limit. The autoimmune disease "crippled his vision, hearing and his entire sense of balance," Kutcher said.

The healing process took a full year, according to the 44-year-old. At times he wasn't sure if he would ever be able to hear, see or walk again. After this terrible experience he was "glad to be alive".
