"Number of cases at two-month low" - The current corona numbers explained for you

59,506 Corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

In the previous week comparison, there is again a strong minus of 30 percent.

This is now the twelfth consecutive business day of a week-on-week decline.

And: The daily value is the lowest daily value on a working day since June 3rd, i.e. for a good two months.

The downward momentum in the number of corona cases overall continues unabated, which can be seen, for example, in the 7-day average compared to the previous week.

The 7-day incidence continues to fall, from 451 to 432.

It falls in 14 of the 16 federal states, the two exceptions being Brandenburg and NRW.

In a week-on-week comparison, all 16 countries are still in the red.

A week ago, 8 of the 16 federal states still had a corona incidence of more than 500.

Today there are only two, Hesse and Saarland.

At the same time, the number of urban and rural districts with an incidence of more than 500 within a week has decreased significantly – from 294 to 113.

165 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday.

This brings us to 738 deaths this week.

The 7-day moving average rises to 123, the highest level since May 19.

Every day we hear the new Corona case numbers. But what do they mean, where are we in the pandemic and what is the trend? Olaf Gersemann explains and evaluates the current figures briefly and concisely - every morning anew.
