In a statement, the Victoria Police said that the woman, identified by the media as Lillian Ip, was on a trip to see her mother when her car got stuck in the mud in an area without mobile coverage and her relatives alerted her. his disappearance on April 30.

"I thought I was going to die there (...). I was just sitting and thinking, 'what am I going to do? How am I going to survive?'" the woman told Channel 9, who even wrote a farewell letter to their families.

Then, on the fifth day, she heard the sound of the police helicopter that had come looking for her.

"Lillian was about 60 kilometers from the nearest town and due to health problems she couldn't try to walk so she stayed by the car," said Martin Torpey, Wodonga City Police Sergeant.

The woman was taken to the hospital for a checkup for dehydration and was soon able to return to her family.

"I am an adventure person, but next time I will be more prepared," Ip told Channel 9.
