Before his acting career, Brad William Henke made it to the Super Bowl as a football player. Several injuries ended his sporting career. But then he becomes successful in front of the camera and plays in numerous series. Now he dies in his sleep.

Mourning for Brad William Henke: The former NFL player and "Orange Is the New Black" actor died at the age of 56. His manager confirmed this to the New York Post. Accordingly, he died on November 29 in his sleep. Details of the cause of death are not known.

Henke was born in April 1966 in Columbus, Nebraska. Before he devoted himself to a career in front of the camera, the American was an active football player and was selected by the New York Giants for the 1989 NFL draft. He played with the Denver Broncos in the 1990 Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. After several injuries, he ended his sports career in 1994.

But a new door opened: His acting career got rolling when he starred in the 1996 film "Mr. Wrong" alongside stars like Ellen DeGeneres and Joan Cusack. He then took on smaller series roles in "Chicago Hope", "Nash Bridges", "Emergency Room", "Just in Case Amy" or "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation".

He also played series characters in "Dexter", "Lost" and "Justified". One of his last roles was as prison guard Desi Piscatella on the series Orange Is the New Black.
