Oscar bell "still hurts": Chris Rock verbally wedges back at Will Smith

It's been almost exactly a year since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in front of an audience of millions. The comedian was silent about the incident for a long time, but now he is speaking out. Apparently he hasn't forgiven him yet.

A year after Hollywood star Will Smith's sensational slap in the face at the Oscars, comedian Chris Rock publicly hit back for the first time - albeit with words. "People are like, 'Did it hurt?'" Rock said at a stand-up comedy performance live on Netflix in Baltimore on Saturday (local time), adding, "It still hurts."

Smith slapped Rock in the face on stage at the Oscars in March last year and verbally abused him after Rock made a joke about Smith's hair-losing wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

During his performance on Saturday, Rock Smith's slap in the face was linked to his wife's infidelity and the malicious reactions to it. For reasons unknown to him, the Hollywood dream couple addressed Pinkett Smith's fling and Smith's problems with it in a podcast episode. Rock emphasized that he himself had nothing to do with the insults and ridicule that the couple received for it. Nevertheless, Smith's anger hit him with full force. "Will Smith practices selective outrage," the comedian said.

Rock made no secret of the fact that he didn't forgive Smith for the slap. He always admired him as a musician and actor and "cheered on for Will Smith my whole life". But now he's cheering on the slave driver Smith is beating up in his role as a slave in his new film Emancipation, Rock added scathingly.

After the slap in the face at the Oscars, Smith was awarded the Oscar for best actor for his role in the drama film "King Richard". The 'Independence Day' and 'Men in Black' star later publicly apologized to Rock and resigned from the Oscars. Smith was also barred from all Oscar ceremonies for ten years. Rock has so far remained virtually silent on the incident and has refrained from filing criminal charges against Smith.
