The legal dispute between the Archdiocese of Cologne and its legal advisor, who was dismissed because of an office chair that had been taken, is presumably entering a new round. The regional labor court in Cologne announced on Thursday that both parties had lodged an appeal in the proceedings.
When a date for the oral hearing will be scheduled is not yet foreseeable. The "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" had reported.
In January, the Cologne Labor Court dealt with a lawsuit brought by the former legal adviser to the Archbishop of Cologne, Rainer Maria Woelki. She had opposed the termination of her employment. Among other things, she had been dismissed because she had taken her back-friendly office chair home with her at the beginning of the corona pandemic. The labor court in Cologne upheld the woman's claim and found the dismissal to be invalid.
The legal adviser, who was busy processing abuse cases during her tenure, had also demanded compensation for pain and suffering. She had been inadequately trained for this work, she had argued. However, the court did not award this to her. The processing of the abuse cases was necessary - and the associated burdens were unavoidable.
