The American star R has fallen

The federal court in Brooklyn pronounced the heavy sentence against the 55 year-old singer. Nine months prior, the veil had been lifted on the issue of sex crime within the black community.

The judiciary described him as "criminal and predatory" and "manipulative and controlling."

R. Kelly's gospel-influenced voice, and sexually explicit lyrics, have sold over 75 million records around the world, making it one R's greatest commercial successes.

In 1998, the singer won three Grammy Awards with "I Believe I Can Fly." However, his success was marred by rumors and suspicions about sexual violence. He resisted financial agreements that included confidentiality clauses.
