RANGERS ICON WOULD START IBROX STAR IN CRUNCH EURO 2020 CLASH WITH RIVALS

First-choice right-back Stephen O'Donnell had a disastrous trip against the Czech Republic in their first match of the championship, strengthening calls from lovers to throw Patterson into the meeting together with the Auld Enemy.

RANGERS ICON WOULD START IBROX STAR IN CRUNCH EURO 2020 CLASH WITH RIVALS

After viewing the opening 2-0 defeat at Hampden, McCoist would ring the changes at Wembley, with Patterson coming to the side for his first competitive appearance for Scotland -- and the honor of being the youngest player to play for Scotland at a significant championship.

"I would make changes to the Scotland team for England," McCoist stated in The Telegraph.

"Nathan Patterson can come in on the right side since he is another one who's young, daring and athletic so can catch up and down the park.

"With Andy Robertson on one side, I would play Patterson on another to combat speed."

Despite his limited appearances at heart level, Patterson has shone when given the opportunity for Rangers -- and according to his debut for Scotland.

With O'Donnell looking like he had only just discovered the sport of soccer throughout the defeat by the Czech's Clarke giving Patterson an opportunity would make sense.

Following the defeat in Hampden left Scotland confronting a huge climb to stay in Euro 2020, the time for Clarke to play it safe is long gone.
