Report: Thieves smashed windows, stole purses during Volusia funeral

Volusia County deputies are searching for someone who smashed car windows during a funeral service, according to a WOFL-Channel 35 news report.

The smash-and-grab burglaries happened Sunday during a service at the Deltona Memorial Funeral Home in Orange City, WOFL reported. 

Deputies said someone smashed several windows and then stole purses and wallets from the cars, according to the report. They didn’t immediately have any leads.

Police said the man stopped his car on the Eau Gallie Causeway about 3 p.m. in the middle of a rain storm, got out and stripped naked, according to the report.
