Attentive visitors to a birth party on Sunday night on a farm near Bergheim prevented the party from being more fiery than planned. The guests had noticed a fire in the courtyard early on, which had probably spread due to a defective heating system and had already caught a large wood chip bunker, the Bergheim fire station announced on Sunday. Even before the fire brigade was deployed, the farm owner had started extinguishing the fire. Nobody got hurt. The extent of the damage is still unknown.
The reward for the night's action: "After the fire brigade arrived, the guests at the birthday party immediately provided all the emergency services with water and soft drinks," said the guard. "The Bergheim fire brigade would like to thank you for the gesture and the associated appreciation."
