Robbie Anderson, a Panthers receiver, made the impression that Baker Mayfield was not the right choice for the team in April. Anderson later tried to get the toothpaste back in the tube, claiming that he was just trying to support quarterback Sam Darnold.

Anderson has played with Darnold with both the Jets and the Panthers. He recently stated on I Am Athlete how he believes Darnold was hampered by his early years living in New York.
