Sauce Gardner, the Jets' cornerback, was drafted as the fourth overall selection in this year’s draft. It's no surprise that they have high expectations for him.

Gardner will be starting his rookie season in the starting line-up despite team contentions that he still needs to play a part in their defense. Robert Saleh, the head coach, made this assertion. However, other comments he made were more indicative of how the team views the cornerback.

One participant heard Saleh say that Gardner would not be too busy for the team, before adding that he was not sure that you could expect too much from the rookie.

Saleh stated that "The kid can do anything," via Ryan Dunleavy, New York Post. We won't place him in a situation where we know he won’t succeed. It's a promise. However, he doesn't have much of it in his game."

Gardner is one the three Jets' first-round picks for this year. He is also one of many young players they have brought in over the past few years who need to succeed if they are to end a playoff drought that has lasted to 2010.
