Marine Balanant, a licensed skater at Gap and ambassador for the Elite Hautes-Alpes club participated in Saturday's 5th stage in the Speed Skating European Cup, Madeira, Portugal. La Saint-Bonnetiere began the 10,000-meter elimination race and finished in 9th, after a series of mistakes that were not forgiven.
She finished 5th in the points race.
Sunday, June 12, was a happier day for the skater who placed second in the 2nd stage at the World inline cup, which is the roller marathon world cup. This event took place also in Madeira.
"Marine is happy with her race. With a lot of raises, she was able to ski the peloton and finish the final kilometers with five other skaters. Marine crossed the finish line with half a wheel less than the first competitor after the final sprint, 150m from the end," Marie Balanant, Marine's mother, said.
Marine will be participating in the Coupe de France's final stage, XXL marathon, of 103km, in Seyssel, Haute-Savoie on June 19. Next, at the 3rd Stage of the Marathon World Cup L'Aquila (Italy) on the 1st Weekend of July.
