Today, Friday April 28, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Saint Peter Chanel.
He was the first martyr of Oceania. Saint Peter Chanel, a diocesan priest and later a Marist, exercised his ministry among the peasants of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in France, and the natives of the island of Futuna, in the Pacific.
