Today, Wednesday March 29, the Catholic Church honors Saint Eustasius.
He was born in Burgundy in the 6th century. His uncle Miguet was the bishop of Langres and was the youngest son of Clovis in the time of the monarch Clotario I.
Formed in the faith since he was a child, he received the formation and help of the abbot San Columbano who years later would be exiled.
Saint Eustasius assumed the role of abbot and faced the ideas of the Emperor Justinian who wanted to control the religious affairs of the monastery.
Hence, Saint Eustasius updated the rule of Saint Benedict* to protect the religious center from external attacks. He is credited with several miracles.

* The Benedictine rule states that guests, especially the poor and foreigners, should be received as guests in the monastery. They would be greeted with "the head bowed, the body prostrate on the ground, they will adore Christ in them, whom they receive"
The Catholic saints are the group of people recognized by the Church as saints or blessed on a specific date. The Roman Martyrology is the document that names and distributes in the calendar the almost 7,000 saints and blessed recognized by the Church.
