Dresden (dpa/sn) - For the integration of refugees and other people with a migration background in the Saxon labor market, an additional 3.3 million euros are available from the Free State until 2024. "Integration in work and training is a key issue," said Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) on Sunday in Dresden. The money could be used to increase the number of labor market mentors who accompany people on their way into working life from 57 to 71. "The need is huge and will even grow," said Dulig. Companies that were urgently looking for skilled workers and trainees also benefited from the program launched in October 2016.
It is about knowing the needs of companies and also the interests and skills of the refugees, said Dulig. They should also know who to contact. The mentors are therefore "mediators between the participants". According to the ministry, the program has successfully established itself and is in high demand, also as a result of the Ukraine war. So far, almost 2,300 people have been placed in employment and over 860 people in vocational training.
